Erectile Dysfunction Treatment
Erectile Dysfunction (ED) is a male sexual health condition in which a man repeatedly has difficulty getting an erection or keeping it firm enough for satisfactory sexual activity.
Having an erection problem once in a while does not automatically mean you have ED. Stress, tiredness, alcohol, anxiety or a difficult sexual situation can temporarily affect erections.
The concern becomes more important when the problem keeps happening, the erection is regularly not firm enough for intercourse, or it becomes difficult to maintain the erection until sexual activity is complete.
At NavMitra Clinic, ED treatment does not begin simply with:
“Take something to make the erection harder.”
We first understand when the problem started, whether you can get an erection at other times, how long the erection lasts, your sexual desire, medical history, medicines, stress and other factors that may be affecting erectile function.
Patients looking for Erectile Dysfunction treatment in Gurgaon can consult at our Gurugram clinic, while online sexologist consultation is available across India.

Do These Situations Sound Familiar?
You want to have sex but your erection does not become firm enough.
You get an erection initially, but it becomes weak before or during intercourse.
Your erection disappears soon after penetration.
You need continuous stimulation to keep the erection.
Your erection is better during masturbation but becomes weak with a partner.
You wake up with morning erections but struggle during sexual activity.
You start worrying before sex about whether your erection will stay firm.
After one or two unsuccessful experiences, your confidence has started decreasing.
You rush intercourse because you are afraid the erection may disappear.
Your erections were normal earlier but have gradually become weaker.
You are also experiencing reduced sexual desire, early ejaculation or another sexual problem.
You have diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or another health condition and have noticed a change in erection quality.
One unsuccessful sexual encounter does not diagnose Erectile Dysfunction.
But if erection difficulty is becoming a repeated pattern, it deserves proper assessment rather than repeatedly trying different tablets or assuming the problem is only psychological.
The Important Question Is Not Just “How Can I Get a Harder Erection?
The more useful question is:
Why is my erection becoming weak, and what is affecting erectile function in my case?
What Is Erectile Dysfunction?
An erection depends on several systems working together.
Sexual stimulation begins in the brain. Nerve signals then help blood vessels in the penis relax and allow more blood to enter the erectile tissue. As blood fills this tissue, the penis becomes larger and firm enough for sexual activity.
Hormones, nerves, blood vessels, psychological state and sexual stimulation can all influence this process.
If something repeatedly interferes with this response, a man may have difficulty either getting an erection, achieving sufficient firmness or keeping the erection long enough for sex.
That is Erectile Dysfunction.
Difficulty Getting an Erection
Some men feel sexual desire and want intimacy, but the penis does not become sufficiently firm.
Difficulty Keeping the Erection
For others, the erection develops normally at first but begins becoming weak before or during intercourse.
A patient may describe it as:
“The erection is there at the beginning, but as soon as I try penetration it goes down.”
Inconsistent Erections
Some men are able to get satisfactory erections at certain times but not at others.
For example, erections may occur during masturbation or on waking in the morning but become difficult with a partner.
This pattern gives the doctor useful information, but it does not by itself prove that the problem is psychological.
Loss of Confidence
Once erection difficulty happens repeatedly, the man may begin entering every sexual encounter with one concern:
“What if it happens again?”
That fear can become another factor affecting sexual performance.
Is Every Weak Erection Erectile Dysfunction?
No.
Almost every man can occasionally experience difficulty getting or keeping an erection.
Temporary erection problems can happen after:
- Severe tiredness
- Stressful days
- Excess alcohol
- Emotional tension
- Lack of sexual interest at that moment
- Relationship conflict
- Performance pressure
- Certain medicines
- Illness or poor general health
The doctor therefore looks for a persistent or recurrent pattern, not one isolated experience.
We want to understand:
Does the problem happen repeatedly?
Has erection quality changed from before?
Is the erection firm enough for intercourse?
Does it remain firm after penetration?
Are morning erections still present?
What happens during masturbation?
Is sexual desire normal?
Are diabetes, blood pressure or other health conditions present?
These details help determine whether the patient is experiencing ED and what may be contributing to it.
How Does a Normal Erection Happen?
Understanding this makes Erectile Dysfunction easier to understand.
When a man becomes sexually aroused, signals from the brain and nerves help the smooth muscle inside penile blood vessels relax.
More blood then enters two erectile chambers in the penis called the corpora cavernosa.
As these chambers fill, pressure increases and blood is temporarily retained within the penis, creating an erection.
For this process to work properly, the body needs:
Healthy blood flow
Proper nerve function
Appropriate hormonal balance
Sexual stimulation and arousal
A psychological state that allows sexual response
This is why ED should not automatically be reduced to:
“There is weakness in the penis.”
The problem may originate from blood circulation, metabolic health, nerves, hormones, medicines, psychological factors — or a combination of several factors.
What Causes Erectile Dysfunction?
There is no single cause of ED.
In many men, more than one factor is present at the same time.
Blood Flow and Cardiovascular Health
A strong erection requires adequate blood flow to the penis.
Conditions that affect the blood vessels can therefore affect erectile function.
These may include:
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Atherosclerosis
- Diabetes
- Obesity
- Cardiovascular disease
- Smoking
This connection is medically important because penile blood vessels are relatively small.
In some men, erection difficulty may appear before more obvious symptoms of cardiovascular disease develop.
That does not mean every man with ED has heart disease.
It means persistent ED deserves attention to general cardiovascular and metabolic health, rather than being treated only as a bedroom problem.
Erection Problems Can Sometimes Tell Us Something About Your Overall Health
If ED has become persistent — particularly alongside diabetes, blood pressure, obesity or cholesterol problems — do not ignore it.
Can Low Testosterone Cause Erectile Dysfunction?
Testosterone plays an important role in male sexual health, particularly sexual desire.
However, not every man with ED has low testosterone, and testosterone deficiency should not automatically be assumed simply because an erection is weak.
Hormonal assessment becomes more relevant when ED occurs together with symptoms such as:
- Markedly reduced sexual desire
- Reduced spontaneous erections
- Low energy
- Other clinical features suggesting testosterone deficiency
If the doctor suspects a hormonal problem, appropriate testing can be considered.
Testosterone treatment is not a universal erection treatment for every man with ED.
Diabetes and Erectile Dysfunction
Diabetes is an important risk factor for ED.
Long-term high blood sugar can affect both blood vessels and nerves, which are essential for a normal erection.
This means a diabetic patient may experience:
- Reduced erection firmness
- Difficulty maintaining erections
- Slower erectile response
- Reduced sensation in some cases
- Other sexual-health concerns
The longer diabetes has been present and the poorer the metabolic control, the more important it becomes to consider diabetes as part of the overall ED assessment.
A patient with diabetes should therefore not be given the impression that his ED exists completely separately from his general health.
Good diabetes management remains important even when specific treatment for ED is being considered.
Stress, Anxiety and Erectile Dysfunction
The brain is an important part of sexual arousal.
This means stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and performance pressure can either cause erection problems in some men or make an existing physical problem worse.
One common pattern begins after a single unsuccessful sexual encounter.
The man thinks:
“Why did my erection disappear?”
Before the next encounter, he starts checking whether the erection is strong enough.
During intimacy his attention remains on the penis:
“Is it becoming weak?”
If erection firmness changes slightly, anxiety increases further.
A cycle may develop:
Erection problem → fear of another failure → increased monitoring and anxiety → further erection difficulty.
This does not mean the problem is imaginary.
Psychological factors have genuine effects on sexual response and can coexist with physical ED.
“My Erection Is Normal During Masturbation but Weak During Sex” — Why?
This is a common situation.
A patient may say:
“When I am alone the erection is good, but with my partner it becomes weak.”
There are several possible reasons.
Sex with a partner involves circumstances that are not present during masturbation — expectations, emotional connection, fear of performance, concern about satisfying the partner, condom use, relationship factors and different types of stimulation.
For some men, this pattern may suggest that situational or psychological factors are playing an important role.
But morning or masturbation erections do not automatically rule out a physical contribution.
The complete sexual and medical history still matters.
Good Erections Alone but Difficulty During Intercourse?
Don’t automatically conclude that “nothing is physically wrong” or that the problem is “all in your mind.”
Let the complete pattern be assessed.
“I Get an Erection but Lose It During Intercourse”
This is different from being completely unable to get an erection.
Some patients develop a satisfactory erection during foreplay but lose firmness:
- While putting on a condom
- Before penetration
- Immediately after penetration
- When changing sexual position
- When they become anxious
- After sexual stimulation reduces
- Because the erection itself was not sufficiently rigid to begin with
The doctor therefore needs to know when the erection becomes weak, not simply whether an erection occurs.
A patient who says:
“I can get an erection.”
may still have clinically relevant ED if he cannot maintain sufficient firmness for satisfactory sexual activity.
Erectile Dysfunction and Premature Ejaculation Can Occur Together
A patient does not always have only one sexual dysfunction.
Some men with ED begin rushing sexual activity because they are afraid their erection will disappear.
They may then also complain:
“My timing has become very short.”
Another man may already have Premature Ejaculation and become so anxious about sexual performance that his erection starts becoming unstable.
This is why ED assessment should also include:
- Ejaculation
- Sexual desire
- Orgasm
- Sexual confidence
- Relationship context
Treating erection hardness while ignoring another major sexual difficulty may leave the patient dissatisfied even if erectile function improves.
Erectile Dysfunction Can Be Connected to Overall Health
This is one reason persistent ED should not simply be hidden or self-treated indefinitely.
Erectile Dysfunction is associated with several cardiovascular and metabolic risk factors.
A man who develops ED may also need his doctor to consider:
Blood pressure
Blood sugar / diabetes risk
Cholesterol
Weight and metabolic health
Smoking
Physical activity
Relevant cardiovascular history
This becomes particularly important when ED develops without an obvious explanation.
ED does not mean that a heart attack is about to happen, but it can sometimes provide an opportunity to identify cardiovascular risk factors that have not previously been recognised.
Don't Look at Erectile Dysfunction Only as a Sexual Problem
Your erection can sometimes provide useful information about your overall health.
Medicines Can Also Affect Erections
Certain medicines can contribute to erection problems in some patients.
Examples can include some medicines used for:
- Depression or anxiety
- High blood pressure
- Hormonal treatment
- Certain neurological or psychiatric conditions
- Pain or other chronic illnesses
This does not mean you should stop a prescribed medicine because you think it is causing ED.
Stopping treatment without medical advice can be dangerous.
Instead, tell the doctor every medicine and supplement you are taking so that the possible relationship can be assessed.
How We Assess Erectile Dysfunction
There is no single test that every man with ED needs.
A good assessment begins with a detailed medical, sexual and psychological history.
When Did the Erection Problem Start?
Was erection quality always poor, or was sexual function previously normal?
Did the problem appear suddenly or gradually?
Can You Get an Erection?
We distinguish between:
Difficulty getting an erection
and
Getting an erection but losing it too soon.
These are not exactly the same presentation.
How Firm Is the Erection?
The doctor needs to know whether the erection becomes firm enough for penetration and satisfactory intercourse.
Are Morning Erections Present?
Morning or nighttime erections provide useful information about erectile function.
They are one piece of the assessment — not a complete diagnosis on their own.
What Happens During Masturbation?
If erections differ significantly between masturbation and partnered sex, that may provide clues about situational and psychological factors.
Is Your Sexual Desire Normal?
Low desire and Erectile Dysfunction are different sexual problems, although they can occur together.
Is Premature Ejaculation Also Present?
Erection anxiety and ejaculation control can influence each other.
What Medical Conditions Are Present?
We ask about:
- Diabetes
- High blood pressure
- Cholesterol
- Heart disease
- Obesity
- Hormonal problems
- Neurological problems
- Previous pelvic surgery or injury
- Relevant urinary or penile symptoms
What Medicines Are You Taking?
Prescription medicines, over-the-counter products, supplements and sexual-health medicines should all be disclosed.
Are Stress or Performance Anxiety Involved?
The doctor also needs to understand whether the erection problem changes according to situation, partner or psychological state.
What Tests May Be Required for Erectile Dysfunction?
Unlike PE, ED assessment often includes greater attention to general metabolic and cardiovascular health.
Depending on the patient’s age, symptoms and medical history, the doctor may consider tests such as:
- Blood glucose or HbA1c
- Lipid profile
- Total testosterone, usually assessed appropriately in the morning
- Other hormonal or laboratory investigations when clinically indicated
Blood pressure and other cardiovascular risk factors may also need review.
Not every patient needs advanced testing.
Special investigations such as penile Doppler ultrasound, nocturnal erection testing or injection testing are generally used only when the clinical situation requires more detailed evaluation.
A Note from Dr. Anil Kumar Kalra
“When a patient tells me that his erection has become weak, my first question is not simply what medicine he has taken. I want to know whether he is unable to get an erection or whether he gets one and loses it, whether morning erections are present, whether the same thing happens during masturbation, and whether diabetes, blood pressure, stress or another health problem is involved. These details help us understand what may actually be affecting the erection.”

You Don't Need to Know Why Your Erection Is Weak Before Consulting
Tell the doctor exactly what happens. The assessment begins from there.
Can Erectile Dysfunction Be Treated?
Yes. Erectile Dysfunction has several recognised treatment options.
The appropriate treatment depends on what is causing or contributing to ED, how severe it is, the patient’s overall health, other medicines being taken and personal treatment preferences.
This is important because men often search only for:
“Which tablet gives the strongest erection?”
But stronger medication is not automatically better treatment.
For example:
A man with poorly controlled diabetes needs his metabolic health addressed as well.
A man whose erection is mainly affected by performance anxiety may need that component addressed.
A man with low testosterone needs proper hormonal assessment rather than automatically taking an erection tablet.
A man with cardiovascular disease may require additional safety considerations before certain treatments.
The goal is therefore not only to temporarily create an erection.
It is to understand the complete ED picture and choose an appropriate treatment strategy.
What Treatments Are Available for Erectile Dysfunction?
Depending on the patient’s case, recognised ED management can involve several approaches.
Managing Underlying Health Problems
When diabetes, hypertension, obesity, cardiovascular risk or another medical condition is contributing, improving the management of that condition can form an important part of ED care.
Lifestyle Changes
Regular physical activity, weight management, stopping smoking, reducing excess alcohol and improving cardiovascular health can support erectile function in appropriate patients.
These measures may be recommended alongside direct ED treatment rather than instead of it.
Psychological or Psychosexual Treatment
When anxiety, depression, relationship problems or performance pressure are contributing, counselling or cognitive-behavioural approaches may help.
This can sometimes be combined with medical treatment.
Oral ED Medicines
Medicines such as sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil and avanafil belong to a group called PDE5 inhibitors.
They improve the erectile response to sexual stimulation by helping increase penile blood flow.
They do not automatically create an erection without sexual stimulation.
These medicines are established first-line treatments for many men with ED, but they are not appropriate for everyone.
Important Safety Point
ED medicines such as sildenafil or tadalafil can be dangerous when used with nitrate medicines used for angina/chest pain, because blood pressure may fall significantly.
This is one reason patients should tell the doctor what medicines they are taking rather than using ED tablets secretly.
Vacuum Erection Devices
Vacuum devices can help draw blood into the penis and may be considered when appropriate.
Injectable or Intra-Urethral Treatment
Selected patients may use medicines delivered directly to the penis when oral medicines are unsuitable or ineffective.
Penile Implant Surgery
For severe or treatment-resistant ED, penile prosthesis surgery is an established option.
It is generally considered after appropriate discussion of other treatments, patient preference, benefits and risks.
Already Depending on a Tablet Every Time You Have Sex?
If you are repeatedly taking ED medicine without understanding why the erection problem is happening, it may be time for a proper assessment.
Ayurvedic Treatment for Erectile Dysfunction at NavMitra Clinic
At NavMitra Clinic, Ayurvedic care begins after understanding the nature of the erection problem and the patient’s overall health.
We do not want to treat every erection complaint as the same condition.
The doctor considers factors such as:
- Whether the patient can get an erection
- Whether the problem is mainly maintaining it
- Morning and masturbation erections
- Sexual desire
- Associated Premature Ejaculation
- Diabetes, blood pressure and other medical conditions
- Stress and performance anxiety
- Lifestyle and general health
Based on the assessment, an Ayurvedic treatment plan may be considered.
Ayurvedic Medicines
Where considered appropriate, Ayurvedic medicines may be prescribed according to the individual patient’s clinical situation.
The treatment should not be selected simply because a product is advertised for “hardness” or “stamina.”
A patient with predominantly anxiety-related erection difficulty and a patient with long-standing diabetes-related ED should not automatically be treated as though they have identical problems.
Diet and Lifestyle
General metabolic and cardiovascular health are closely related to erectile function.
Where relevant, advice may include attention to:
- Physical activity
- Weight
- Smoking
- Alcohol
- Sleep
- Diet
- Stress
- Management of existing health conditions
Sexual Performance Anxiety
If erection difficulty has created a cycle of fear and performance pressure, that part of the problem should also be addressed.
The patient should understand that repeatedly “testing” his erection can sometimes increase anxiety rather than solve the problem.
Associated Sexual Problems
Premature Ejaculation, low sexual desire and other sexual symptoms should be discussed openly.
ED does not always exist in isolation.
Follow-Up
During follow-up, the doctor can review:
Is the erection becoming sufficiently firm?
Can it be maintained during intercourse?
Has sexual confidence improved?
Is an associated ejaculation problem still present?
Are medicines being tolerated appropriately?
Do any health factors require further investigation?
Erectile Dysfunction Treatment Should Be Based on Your Health — Not Someone Else’s Prescription
What Does the Scientific Evidence Say About Herbal or Ayurvedic Treatment for ED?
This section should remain transparent.
There is research investigating herbal and traditional approaches for Erectile Dysfunction, and some individual herbal interventions have shown encouraging results in clinical studies.
However, the evidence does not establish every Ayurvedic or herbal formulation as a proven treatment for ED, and the quality and strength of evidence differ considerably between products.
A recent systematic review and meta-analysis of herbal supplements found potential benefits for some preparations, while also emphasising that evidence for several commonly used agents remains insufficient and that larger, high-quality studies with longer follow-up are needed.
For this reason, we should not promise:
“100% permanent ED cure.”
“Guaranteed hardness.”
“No side effects for everyone.”
“Fixed improvement within seven days.”
“Every ED patient can be treated with the same herbal medicine.”
A responsible approach is to identify the type and possible causes of ED, select treatment appropriately and review the patient’s response.
What Results Should You Expect from ED Treatment?
There is no responsible way to promise the same result to every patient.
For one man, improvement may mean being able to achieve sufficient erection firmness.
For another, the main improvement may be maintaining the erection reliably throughout intercourse.
For a patient whose main difficulty is performance anxiety, increased confidence and more consistent erections may develop together.
For someone with diabetes or vascular risk factors, management may need to address both sexual function and general health.
The treatment goal should therefore be:
A reliable erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual activity, with improvement in confidence and sexual wellbeing — according to the individual patient’s condition.
How Long Does Erectile Dysfunction Treatment Take?
There is no single treatment duration for ED.
The timeline can differ depending on:
- How long ED has been present
- Whether onset was sudden or gradual
- Whether the cause is mainly vascular, metabolic, hormonal, psychological or mixed
- Presence of diabetes or cardiovascular risk factors
- Erection severity
- Associated low libido or Premature Ejaculation
- Medicines being used
- Treatment chosen
- Individual response
A patient with situational performance anxiety may have a very different treatment journey from someone with long-standing diabetes and vascular ED.
That is why a responsible timeline is discussed after assessment, not promised before the doctor knows the patient.
Want to Understand What May Be Affecting Your Erection?
Start with a proper assessment rather than a fixed treatment package.
What Happens During Your ED Consultation at NavMitra Clinic?
You do not need to arrive knowing whether your problem is “vascular ED,” “psychogenic ED” or something else.
Simply describe what happens.
Step 1 — Tell Us the Problem in Your Own Words
You can say:
“I am not getting a proper erection.”
“My erection starts but becomes weak during sex.”
“I am fine during masturbation but not with my partner.”
“My erection was normal earlier, but now it is getting weaker.”
“I have diabetes and my erection quality has reduced.”
These statements are enough to begin.
Step 2 — The Doctor Understands the Pattern
Questions may cover erection firmness, duration, morning erections, masturbation erections, desire, ejaculation, medical conditions, medicines, lifestyle and psychological factors.
Step 3 — Relevant Health Factors Are Assessed
Blood pressure, metabolic health, hormones or additional investigation may be considered where clinically appropriate.
Step 4 — Treatment Is Planned
The doctor explains what may be contributing to ED and discusses an appropriate treatment approach.
Step 5 — Progress Is Reviewed
Follow-up helps determine whether erectile function is improving and whether any aspect of treatment needs adjustment or further evaluation.
Your First Step Is Simply to Explain What Happens to Your Erection
When Should You Consult a Doctor for Erectile Dysfunction?
Occasional erection difficulty is common.
But you should consider a professional assessment when:
- Difficulty getting an erection keeps happening.
- Your erection repeatedly becomes weak during intercourse.
- Erection quality has gradually reduced.
- Your erections were normal before but have recently changed.
- You have diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol or cardiovascular risk factors.
- Sexual desire has also significantly decreased.
- ED is affecting your confidence or relationship.
- You also have Premature Ejaculation or another sexual concern.
- The penis has developed pain, significant curvature or another physical change.
- ED began after surgery, injury or a new medicine.
- You regularly rely on ED medicines without medical assessment.
Persistent ED is worth discussing not only because of sexual performance, but because it can sometimes be associated with other health conditions that deserve attention.
What Not to Do When You Have Erectile Dysfunction
Do Not Assume It Is Only “Weakness”
ED is not simply a lack of physical strength.
Blood flow, nerves, hormones, medicines, health conditions and psychological factors can all be involved.
Do Not Keep Testing Your Erection
Repeatedly checking:
“Is it hard enough?”
can increase performance anxiety for some men.
Do Not Take Someone Else’s ED Medicine
A medicine appropriate for another person may not be suitable for you.
Do Not Hide Your Medical History
Diabetes, heart disease, blood pressure medicines and other health information can directly affect treatment decisions.
Do Not Stop Prescribed Medicines Yourself
If you suspect another medicine is affecting your erection, discuss it with a doctor rather than stopping it suddenly.
Do Not Assume Morning Erections Mean Everything Is Normal
Morning erections provide useful information, but they do not by themselves exclude ED.
Do Not Assume Masturbation Has Permanently Damaged Your Erection
Masturbation itself is not considered a standard direct cause of Erectile Dysfunction.
The current pattern should be assessed instead.
Still Unsure Why Your Erection Is Becoming Weak?
Tell us what is actually happening rather than trying to diagnose the cause yourself.
Frequently Asked Questions About Erectile Dysfunction
What is Erectile Dysfunction?
ED is persistent or recurrent difficulty getting or keeping an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual activity.
Is one failed erection a sign of ED?
No.
Occasional erection difficulty can happen because of stress, tiredness, alcohol, anxiety or other temporary factors.
A repeated pattern is more clinically important.
Why can I get an erection but lose it during sex?
Several factors can contribute, including inadequate blood flow, reduced stimulation, performance anxiety, medicines, health conditions or a combination of physical and psychological factors.
The point at which the erection becomes weak can help during assessment.
Why is my erection strong during masturbation but weak with my partner?
Situational and psychological factors may contribute when erections are consistently better during masturbation than during partnered sex.
However, this pattern does not automatically prove that ED is entirely psychological.
A complete assessment is still appropriate when the problem persists.
If I have morning erections, can I still have Erectile Dysfunction?
Yes.
Morning erections are useful information about erectile function, but their presence does not automatically rule out ED.
Can anxiety cause Erectile Dysfunction?
Yes.
Performance anxiety, stress, depression and other psychological factors can cause or worsen erection problems in some men.
Physical and psychological factors can also occur together.
Can diabetes cause Erectile Dysfunction?
Yes.
Diabetes can affect the nerves and blood vessels required for normal erectile function and is an important risk factor for ED.
Can high blood pressure or cholesterol affect erections?
Yes.
Conditions affecting vascular health can affect the blood flow required for an erection.
Is Erectile Dysfunction related to heart health?
ED and cardiovascular disease share several risk factors, and vascular ED can sometimes precede obvious cardiovascular disease.
Persistent ED can therefore be an opportunity to review cardiovascular risk factors, particularly in men with diabetes, hypertension, obesity, smoking or high cholesterol.
Does low testosterone cause Erectile Dysfunction?
Low testosterone may contribute to sexual problems in some men, especially when reduced sexual desire or other symptoms of testosterone deficiency are also present.
But it is not the explanation for every case of ED.
Does masturbation cause Erectile Dysfunction?
Masturbation itself is not recognised as a routine direct cause of ED.
If erection quality differs significantly between masturbation and partnered sex, that information may still help the doctor understand the pattern.
Can watching pornography cause Erectile Dysfunction?
Pornography should not automatically be labelled as a proven direct cause of ED.
However, individual sexual habits, expectations, arousal patterns and performance anxiety may be relevant in some patients and can be discussed during assessment.
Can Erectile Dysfunction and Premature Ejaculation happen together?
Yes.
Some men experience both conditions, and fear of losing an erection can sometimes cause a man to rush intercourse and ejaculate earlier.
Do I need blood tests for ED?
Depending on the patient’s history, doctors commonly consider metabolic and hormonal evaluation such as blood glucose, lipid profile and total testosterone.
Additional testing depends on the individual case.
Are sildenafil and tadalafil treatments for ED?
Yes.
They are PDE5 inhibitor medicines used as established treatment options for many patients with ED.
They require appropriate use and are not safe for everyone, particularly people taking nitrate medicines for angina.
Does an ED tablet automatically create an erection?
No.
PDE5 inhibitors support the erectile response to sexual stimulation; they do not simply create an erection regardless of sexual arousal.
Can Erectile Dysfunction be treated?
Yes.
Several recognised treatments are available. The appropriate approach depends on the cause, severity, overall health and preferences of the individual patient.
Can Erectile Dysfunction be permanently cured?
That depends on the cause.
Some reversible contributing factors may improve substantially when addressed, while other patients require ongoing management.
A guaranteed permanent cure should not be promised before the cause and clinical situation are understood.
Can I consult a sexologist online for ED?
Yes.
A detailed medical and sexual history can be taken online.
If physical examination, laboratory testing, cardiovascular evaluation or specialised testing is required, the doctor can advise an appropriate next step.
Stop Treating “Weak Erection” as the Diagnosis
Three men may all say:
“My erection is weak.”
But one may have vascular risk factors related to diabetes.
Another may have normal erections alone but severe performance anxiety with his partner.
A third may have reduced desire along with a hormonal problem.
The complaint sounds similar. The reason behind it may not be.
So the first question should not simply be:
“Which tablet will make my erection harder?”
It should be:
“Why is my erection becoming weak, and what actually needs treatment?”
